This is a screening form. Not a shopping cart. Not a reservation system. I use the answers here to figure out whether your setup makes sense, whether your expectations are realistic, and whether you are the kind of person who will follow instructions or the kind of person who will ignore everything and then blame the hardware.

Answer honestly. If you do not know something, say you do not know. That is a better answer than a confident wrong one. The people who pretend to know what they are doing are the ones who end up breaking things and sending me paragraphs about it at 11pm.

Video and Display Setup

This matters more than most people think. The original Xbox does not output HDMI natively. Every HDMI solution involves signal conversion. What you are connecting to determines what that looks like.

Does your TV have composite or component inputs?
If your TV is HDMI-only, you will need an HDMI adapter. That changes the cost and the conversation.
Networking Setup

The original Xbox uses Ethernet only. No Wi-Fi, ever. Networking is also the most common source of problems — not because the Xbox is broken, but because modern equipment was not designed with 2001 consoles in mind. Be honest here.

How are you planning to connect the Xbox to your network?
What is your router situation?
ISP-provided combo units are a known problem for Insignia and Xbox networking in general. Not always fatal, but I need to know up front.

Hint: there is a button combination that resets the video output. Whether you know it or can figure it out tells me something useful.
Do you understand that randomly changing settings on a modified console can break things, and that is on you?

This is not a new consumer appliance. It is a 20-plus year old console with aftermarket parts, modified software, custom configuration, and behavior that can change depending on your TV, cables, adapter, controller setup, router, or the choices you make after it arrives. Something as simple as changing a video setting in the dashboard can make the console appear unusable on your particular setup. If you do not have multiple displays, multiple cable options, or a second way to troubleshoot video output, you may be out of luck until the issue is diagnosed and corrected.

By submitting this application, you are affirmatively representing that you understand you are seeking to adopt and operate modified hardware at your own risk, and that you are accepting the duty to learn how to properly care for, connect, maintain, and use that hardware. You further acknowledge that any change to settings, dashboards, scripts, storage layout, video modes, network configuration, or connected accessories may result in unintended behavior, compatibility issues, loss of functionality, or a system that no longer works properly on your specific setup.

  • These are 20-plus year old consoles. They are not new, they are not foolproof, and they will not behave like new retail electronics.
  • They have been modified on purpose. That modification is the value of the system and also the source of additional risk, complexity, and owner responsibility.
  • I make no representation that any modified console will remain problem-free if you change settings, alter files, swap accessories, ignore instructions, or use hardware that is incompatible with your setup.
  • Your TV, monitor, HDMI adapter, AV cables, router, modem, ISP equipment, controller adapters, storage devices, and every decision you make after delivery are your responsibility, not mine.
  • I strongly advise that you contact me before changing settings or options you do not fully understand. If you decide to change things anyway, you are assuming the risk of whatever happens next.
